TRUMP: Tread Cautiously, The World Is Not The United States
Yusuf Shehu Usman
Anttoney General & Commisioner of Justice
Nasarawa State of Nigeria
From the way Trump is going on his policy statements on major global issues that tie many nations of the world together, the US stands a serious risk of being ostracised and be treated like a pariah state by other members of the international community.
The US may lose its grip and squander its leadership of the world.
The leadership of the world is already gravitating towards the far east with Russia and China in hot contention.
Trump is threatening to derail many multi lateral International Agreements and Treaties to which the US is a party. This may have serious and in some cases, irreversible consequences for the US and place the once most powerful state in the world in a minority position.
In particular, the International agreement on Climate Change is a time bomb and could be the precursor to the imminent ostracisation if isolation of the US by rest of the international community.
Trump's convulated policies if allowed to survive may undermine the United Nations and put America on collision course with the rest of the nations of the world. The US may house the United Nations but may be stripped of its leading influence on the operation and decision of the world body
In my humble but firm and respectful view, unless the US under the Trump Presidency re asses its international values and commitments to global issues and adopts a different strategy from the body and mouth language of its president elect (Trump)., the relationship of the big nation with the rest of the international community would gravitate from boom to burst and the rest of the world would march on and leave the US behind.
May be Trump's election is what other emerging powers are waiting to happen to spark off the change in the configuration of the leadership of the new world.
